National Gallop
Held for the 13th time between October 10-11, 2020 on Heroes’ Square in Budapest, the National Gallop is a horse race with a historical atmosphere based on Hungarian traditions. Every year, 72 jockeys – winners of the nationwide and transborder qualifying rounds – measure up their horse-riding skills on the unique race course in the heart of Budapest. The National Gallop is Europe’s largest amateur horse race with a total prize money of over €30 000. Programs demonstrating riding skills and heritage entertain spectators on the stands featuring jump racers, carriage drivers, trick riders, horseback archers and hussars between the competition rounds. The Andrássy Avenue is transformed into Gallop Promenade during race weekend, presenting the competing towns, regions and provinces.
